Gwendolyn (“Wendy”) Keenan Donohue of Riverhead died Nov. 21, 2018 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 64 years old.
She was born May 8, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Midwood, Brooklyn.
In 1986 she moved to Riverhead , where she raised her three sons. She was active in St. John the Evangelist RC Church and St. Isidore RC Church in Riverhead. A talented musician and dancer, she gave piano lessons in her home and taught ballet at the Jamesport Community Center. She worked privately as a tailor and owned a bed and breakfast upstate. She recently retired from Riverhead Central School District, where she worked as a cafeteria server. She was a volunteer at Peconic Bay Medical Center.
She loved TV and movies like Downtown Abbey and Blazing Saddles, and musicians like Sting and James Taylor. She most loved her family, and took special joy in being a grandmother.
Widowed, she is survived by her sons Thomas (Hayley) Keenan, Daniel Keenan and Michael C. Keenan; by her grandson Henry T. Keenan; by her sisters, Katherine Ross Murphy and Margaret Ross Coakley.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, Nov. 25 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead.
A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
