Robert Rogers of Aquebogue died Dec. 28, 2018 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 79 years old.

He was born Nov. 6, 1939 to Bruno and Ann (Harris) Rogers.

He graduated from Riverhead High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1957 to 1960 and was a member of the honor guard for President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

He worked in the construction department of LILCO. He was a member of the Riverhead Polish Hall, a Patriot Guard rider at Calverton National Cemetery and a Eucharistic minister at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church. His family said he loved spending time with his grandchildren and boating on Peconic Bay.

He is survived by his wife Mary (Barker) of Aquebogue, his sons Robert II of New Jersey and Michael John of Aquebogue, his sister Dee Jacobs of Floral Park and two grandchildren, Bailey Christine and Robert III.

Memorial visitation will take place Jan. 2 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. A funeral Mass will take place at the church at noon Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
