Sound Avenue is closed in both directions between Phillips and Church lanes Saturday morning, due to a single-car crash in the area at about 12:30 a.m., according to Riverhead Town Police.
The vehicle struck a utility pole and broke it in half, police said.
The road closure is expected to last several more hours, police said in a press release issued at approximately 5 a.m. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, police said.
Police did not provide any further details about the accident, but said there were no fatalities.
