Kevin F. Monsell of Moriches, formerly of Mattituck, died on Dec. 30, 2018 at Medford Multicare Center for Living. He was 57 years old.
He was born in Greenport on July 4, 1961 to Angela (DiCarlo) and Albert K. Monsell. He graduated from Mattituck High School in the class of 1979. After high school, he attended college at the University of Albany where he attained his master’s degrees in physics and in math.
He married Catherine M. White on Feb. 10, 1995 in Port Jefferson. They celebrated their marriage with a ceremony on May 20, 1995, at Orient Methodist Church, followed by a reception at the Southold American Legion Hall.
He was a member of the North Fork Community Theatre in Mattituck and the Northeast Stage and Shakespeare in Mitchell Park plays, both in Greenport. He loved acting, reading, comic books and computers.
A resident of Moriches for the past 14 years, he previously lived in Orient, Mattituck and Manorville.
He worked at the Suffolk County Department of Health Services for 25 years and for the past five years he worked at the Suffolk County Department of Information Technologies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brothers, Brian (Rose) of Maryland and David (Jean) of Mattituck and by his sister Francesca (Cary) Geis of Schenectady, New York.
The family received friends on Friday, Jan. 4 at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Mattituck Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. John Carrick. Interment was private.
