Robert Rogers of Aquebogue died Dec. 28, 2018, at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 79.
He was born Nov. 6, 1939, to Bruno and Ann (Harris) Rogers. He graduated from Riverhead High School in 1957.
From 1957 to 1960, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was part of the honor guard for President Eisenhower.
He worked in the construction department for Long Island Lighting Company.
He was a member of Riverhead Polish Hall, a communicant at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and a Patriot Guard rider at Calverton National Cemetery.
Family members said he loved spending time with his grandchildren and boating on Peconic Bay.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (née Barker); his sons, Robert II of New Jersey and Michael John of Aquebogue; his sister, Dee Jacobs of Floral Park; and grandchildren, Bailey Christine and Robert III.
Memorial visitation and funeral Mass were held Jan. 2 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home assisted the family.
