Harold Bartlett of Riverhead died Jan. 4, 2019 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 96 years old.
Born in Rocky Point on June 30, 1922, he was the son of Charles and Mattie (Jenkins) Bartlett.
He graduated from Riverhead High School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Army in 1946-1947. He worked as a receiving clerk at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
He was a congregant of Friendship Baptist Church and a member of Club 96.
He enjoyed his family, going to church, watching sports, and traveling.
Predeceased by his wife Mildred, he is survived by his children Marshall Jones of Scotia, New York, Melvin Jones of Virginia and Harold Bartlett Jr. of Riverhead. He is also survived by four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, Jan. 10 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the United Negro College Fund.
