Blue Lives Matter NYC is selling a memorial T-shirt to honor Det. Brian Simonsen and raise funds to assist his family.

Blue Lives Matter NYC, a nonprofit group created to help law enforcement officers and their families in their time of need, is fundraising for the family of NYPD Det. Brian Simonsen.

Simonsen, 42, of Calverton, died in the line of duty in Queens Feb. 12.

The organization is selling memorial T-shirts to honor the fallen detective and will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to Simonsen’s family, Blue Lives Matter NYC founder Joe Imperatrice said. The shirts, $20 each, can be purchased here

Imperatrice said Blue Lives Matter NYC is planning to honor Simonsen’s family at the organization’s annual gala April 6.

“We are hoping when all is said and done to raise in the ballpark of $40,000 to $50,000,” Imperatrice said.

Simonsen, who grew up in South Jamesport, was a 19-year veteran of NYPD. He was killed in a shootout after responding to a report of an armed robbery at a telephone store in Richmond Hill.  See prior story.
