Two people were injured in a collision between a propane truck and a car on Middle Road this morning.

A Ford sedan made a too-wide right turn exiting John Wesley Village onto Middle Road westbound and collided with an eastbound propane truck shortly after 10 a.m., Riverhead police said.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center, according to police at the scene. Their injuries were not life-threatening, police said. An elderly passenger in the Ford left the scene on foot, police said.  He was later picked up by a passing motorist and brought to the hospital, according to radio reports. It is unknown if he was injured in the accident.

Middle Road was closed to traffic between Roanoke and Ostrander avenues while the scene was being cleared. The Ford was towed from the scene.
