Four members of the Riverhead girls varsity track team have qualified to run at the New Balance Outdoor National Track and Field meet this Friday (June 14) at Aggie Stadium in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The girls — Ashley Bell, Enaria Suazo, Miasha Pittman and Emani Womack — are raising money to make the trip possible.

They held a car wash at Applebee’s Sunday morning to put toward the $2,500 cost of the trip, but they still need help.

The Riverhead Running Club, a nonprofit group established to promote and encourage interest in the Riverhead community in running, track and field, and cross country, is helping the girls attend the meet. The club is seeking community support to sponsor them.

If you would like to help, you can donate at a GoFundMe page set up by Riverhead Running Club here.

If you’d prefer, you can mail a check payable to Riverhead Running Club, P.O. Box 235, Aquebogue, NY 11931. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. Tax ID number is 46-4408448.

The Butterfly Effect Project, another nonprofit organization, is donating proceeds from their ‘Calendar Raffle’ fundraiser to help the girls get to North Carolina.
