Riverhead High School freshman Jazmine Kasprzyk began sketching in elementary school and this summer, was selected, based on a portfolio submission, to attend the New York State Summer School of the Arts Visual Arts Program at SUNY Fredonia.
During the monthlong program, Kasprzyk will have the opportunity to expand her artistic talents by taking classes in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media. She will also earn a full high school credit.
“I am looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone,” said Kasprzyk.
Kasprzyk, who enjoys sketching images of people, is a member of the hight school’s art club and gay-straight alliance.
