Riverhead BID will host the annual cardboard boat race Saturday, Aug. 10, with registration beginning at 9 a.m.

Vessels must be constructed out of corrugated cardboard, duct tape and water-based glue and may be painted with only latex paint. No mechanical propulsion, wood, metal, wax, plastic, shrink wrap material or sonic tubes will be permitted.

One, single-sided paddle of any material may be used per occupant; no double-ended paddles are permitted (kayak).

All boats must have a name. Props may be added as long as they do not add to the stability or buoyancy of the craft, which will be determined at the discretion of event officials.

All boats will be inspected prior to the race and winning boats will be inspected after the event. Any boats that arrive after 11 a.m. will only be allowed to run in the Outlaw Race.
