A head-on collision on Sound Avenue near the entrance to Maidstone Landing and Van de Wetering Greenhouses sent three people to the hospital this morning.
The collision between a Toyota Prius sedan and a Hyundai Elantra station wagon took place at about 10:40 a.m.
The male driver of the eastbound Hyundai was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by Jamesport Fire Department.
The driver of the Hyundai and the male driver and female passenger in the Prius were all transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps with injuries believed not to be life-threatening, according to police.
Sound Avenue was closed between Manor Lane and Herricks Lane.
The accident is under investigation, police said.
