Frederick G. Johnson of Riverhead died Aug. 8, 2019, at Mather Memorial Hospital. He was 79.
The son of George and Elsie (Hatcher) Johnson, he was born Dec. 1, 1939, in Riverhead and attended Riverhead High School.
Johnson served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965.
He worked as an assembler for Grumman.
Family members said he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Dallas, of Georgia; sister Shirley Womack-Benton of Riverhead and Catherine Mills of Riverhead; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Burial took place at Calverton National Cemetery.
