The Riverhead Police Department his week welcomed four new full-time police officers to its ranks.

The officers were appointed by the Town Board at its Sept. 4 meeting to fill vacancies created by recent retirements.

Chief David Hegermiller thanked the Town Board for their continued commitment to public safety.

“The recruits started this past Monday with two attending the Suffolk County Police Academy and two assigned directly to field training since they already had their NYS police certification,” Hegermiller said. “We all wish them a safe, healthy and successful career as they start their service to the residents of and the visitors to the Town of Riverhead.”
