The Suffolk County Sheriff’s office will hold an open house and family day on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Yaphank.

The day offers several family-friendly events including K-9, Emergency Response Team and law enforcement demonstrations, jail tours (ages 12 and up), exhibits, a “Troop Carrier” truck ride, a DJ, a buggy obstacle course and bounce house, a scavenger hunt, aquatic robot, food trucks and more. This year features the NY Rangers Street Hockey Program.

Girl Scouts will be able to receive a special patch and Boy Scouts can receive their Crime Prevention Merit Badge.

The event will also feature information and demonstrations on the Sheriff’s Project Lifesaver Program. This initiative features a tracking device for individuals with autism and cognitive impairments that can help locate them in the event they ever go missing. The County Sheriff’s Office warmly welcomes any caregivers and their family members to the Open House to learn more.

All activities are free and open to the public.
