The Riverhead Fire Department will host an open house on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. at its Roanoke Avenue headquarters.
The public is invited to the firehouse to view displays and demonstrations of the emergency equipment that firefighters use to protect lives and property in the Riverhead community.
A “wet down” of two new fire trucks will be featured and neighboring fire departments will join RFD for the ceremonies placing the new trucks into service.
Additional demonstrations will include the jaws of life, the fire prevention trailer, stove fires, a vehicle fire, and the use of fire extinguishers.
Kids of all ages can enjoy the hands-on use of fire extinguishers and fire hoses.
“As volunteers, the men and women of our department are proud of our service to the Riverhead community. Please come with your family and friends to show support for your neighbors,” the fire department said in a press release.
Light refreshments will be served.
