The Riverhead Central School District Board of Education acknowledged the hard work of Riverhead High School student Jerome Gilliam III at their meeting on Oct. 22.
Through a program sponsored by the New York State Department of Labor, Gilliam spent his summer working alongside the district’s crew of custodians.
“He worked every day like it was his first day,” said Dan Hickey, chief custodian at Riverhead High School. “After work, he went to football camp and music instruction, and was back to do it all again the next day.”
