Riverhead Town Police detectives are investigating gunshots fired at a residence on Sound Avenue in Calverton last night.
Police said they received a call about gunshots at the residence, the address of which they did not disclose, at about 7:50 p.m. Monday.
Responding officers secured the scene and determined that there were no injuries, police said in a press release this morning.
Police interviewed residents there and said they learned there was a dispute between one resident and three occupants of a black four-door sedan, registration or make and model unknown.
“As a result of this dispute, gunshots were fired from the occupants of the vehicle and the fired rounds struck the kitchen of the residence at the location as well as four vehicles parked there, damaging same,” police said in a press release.
“At this time, it appears that although the resident and the three occupants were unknown to each other, the incident was not random,” the press release said.
The Riverhead Detective Division is investigating the incident. Anyone with information in this matter is asked to call the Riverhead Town Police Detective Division at (631)727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
