A fight between two Riverhead women in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on West Main Street this morning left one of the women with extensive stab wounds and in need of emergency surgery, Riverhead Town Police said in a press release.

Police responded to a 911 call shortly after 8 o’clock this morning reporting two women fighting in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 245 W. Main Street.

Responding officers found Domonique Scaggs, 31, with extensive stab wounds, police said. Scaggs was rushed to the hospital by Riverhead Ambulance for emergency surgery, police said.

Police arrested the second woman, Elease Jackson, 29, on charges of Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal possession of a weapon in the Fourth Degree, according to the release. She was held for arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court, police said.

Riverhead Town Police detectives were called to the scene to process additional evidence and continue the investigation, according to the release. The investigation revealed that both parties knew each other and that this incident was not a random attack, police said.

Scaggs is out of surgery and in stable condition with lacerations to both her lung and spleen, as well as other non-life threatening lacerations, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to call the police department at 631-727-4500 x 312. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
