Riverhead Town Police are investigating a residential burglary on Hobson Drive in Riverhead last night that sent the resident to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police said a resident on Hobson Driver called 911 at 7:40 p.m. to report he had just been assaulted by a burglar who removed money from his bedroom.

The victim fled the scene in a gray pickup truck, eastbound on Hubbard Avenue, police said in a press release.

The victim was treated at Peconic Bay Medical Center, police said.

Riverhead Police detectives are investigating, according to a press release sent out this morning.

“At this point in the investigation it is believed that this burglary was not random and is an isolated incident,” police said in the press release.
