Michael D. Dunn of Southold died on Jan. 10, 2022 at his home. He was 70 years old.
He was born at St. Albans Naval hospital in Queens to Thomas and Philomena (Schiavoni) Dunn. He graduated from Greenport High School in 1970.
He worked at Oyster Farms in East Marion and then for Larry Tuthill dock building and Wm. J. Mills Co. Later he worked for IRS for several years and then at Plum Island Animal Disease Center. He could also be found as a guest bartender at various venues in Greenport. He and his wife were the owner of the Southold 7-11 from 1988 to 1998. After his retirement, he worked as a pressman and deliveryman for Academy Printing in Southold.
His hobbies included playing and coaching softball, the outdoors, golfing, traveling, spending time with friends, sports, telling tall tales, making jokes and pulling pranks.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Marilyn, children Amanda Czartosieski (Chris) of Southold, Matthew (Molly) of the United States Coast Guard Patrol Forces Southwest Asia and Kelly Dimon (Kris) of Southold, grandsons Evan Czartosieski, Ian Czartosieski, Henry Dimon and Charles Dimon and sisters Beverly Tricomi of Goldens Bridge, Sheila Klos Dunn of Mattituck and Pamela of Asheville, North Carolina.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, Jan. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold.
Memorial donations made to an animal shelter of one’s choice or to Southold Fire Department Rescue Squad would be appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
