A Riverhead man is charged with Robbery in the First Degree after an armed robbery on Doctors Path Sunday morning, Riverhead Town Police said in a press release this morning.

Police said they responded to a call about an armed robbery in progress yesterday at 11 a.m. at 641 Doctors Path. Police said two victims at that location told officers that had been robbed at gunpoint.

Riverhead Police detectives determined that the victims were were at the location “to purchase a large quantity of marijuana,” according to the police report. They identified Zante Davender, 22, as the person who robbed them, police said.

Riverhead Police officers took Davender into custody at 3:16 p.m. yesterday, according to the press release.

He was charged with Robbery in the First Degree, a Class B felony and held at police headquarters for arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time police said. They ask anyone with information to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
