The Riverhead Central School District will host two budget presentations in the upcoming weeks to field questions from the community in advance of the 2022-2023 budget hearing and vote.

One meeting will be held in-person at the Riverhead Middle School on May 2 at 6:30 p.m., while another will be held on May 5 at 3:30 p.m. virtually through Zoom.

The Board of Education will hear comments on the proposed budget at a public hearing at the Riverhead High School on May 10. The school budget vote and election for trustees of the Board of Education will be held on May 17.

The Board of Education adopted a $169.7 million operating budget on April 12 — a $10.3 million increase over the current year’s budget. The district is embarking on an increase in course offerings and the return to a nine-period day in the middle and high schools next school year. The budget proposes a 1% increase to the district’s tax levy.
