Two men are facing grand larceny charges after removing items from the Home Depot store in Riverhead without paying for them yesterday afternoon.
Police said a patrol officer responded to a report of a larceny that just occurred at the Route 58 store at approximately 1:40 p.m. Tuesday. The officer obtained a description of the suspects and the vehicle in which they left the scene and police broadcast the description to patrol units, according to a press release issued last night.
The suspects and the vehicle were located a short distance away, police said.
Jermaine Stevens, 47, of Riverhead and Mitchell Edens, 57, of Moriches were arrested on charges of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a Class E Felony, police said. They were processed and released on desk appearance tickets for future court dates, according to the report.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
