Riverhead Police rescued two teens whose boat had overturned in Peconic Bay yesterday afternoon.

Police said they received a call at about 3:06 p.m. for an overturned boat with two people in the water in Peconic Bay.

The Riverhead Police Department including its Marine Unit and a State Department of Environmental Conservation boat in the area responded to the call, police said in a press release today.

Police located an overturned 13-foot Boston Whaler and two youths in the water, according to the release. The youths, ages 16 and 15, were uninjured, police said. They were transported back to the marina by DEC Police and turned over to their parents, according to the report.

The Riverhead Police Marine Unit was able to right the boat and towed it back to the marina, police said.
