John Richard Braun of Canandaigua died on July 29, 2022 at M. M. Ewing Continuing Care Center. He was 90 years old.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1931 in Naples to Carl A. and Beulah E. (Cleveland) Braun. He graduated from Naples Central School in 1949. He earned his associates degree in auto tech at Morrisville State University. He was a fourth generation grape grower and owner of Glenside Vineyards in Naples and retired in 2007.

He was a 67-year member of the John Hodge Mason Lodge, a volunteer fireman at the Maxfield Hose Co. since the 1950s and served as its treasurer for 19 years, a life-long member of the South Bristol Fish & Game Club, a member of the Naples Historical Society, the Presbyterian (Trinity Federated) Church in Naples, member of the NRA and past member of the NYS Wine Grape Growers. His hobbies included photography, hunting, winemaking, traveling, motors — especially gasoline & diesel and listening to country music.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Shirley Sanford Goleski, daughter Penny Domm, his brother Bruce (Janet) Sanford, step-grandchildren Nichole Konstantatos and John Goleski and step-great-grandchildren Marie Sapp-Goleski, Allen Michael Goleski, Aphrodite Lilia Konstantatos.

A celebration of life will be planned for October and will take place at Ferris Hills in Canandaigua. Interment will be held at Rose Ridge Cemetery.
