Karen Fleischman of Fort Myers, Florida and Riverhead died Aug. 12, 2022.
She was born Dec. 18, 1951, the daughter of Daniel and Marian White of Riverhead.
She graduated from Mercy High School in 1969 and worked for LILCO/National Grid. She also worked helping her parents at the Polish Town Bakery.
She was past president of the Polish Town Civic Association, co-chairperson of the Polish Town Fair for many years, and an honorary member of the Riverhead Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Karen was a huge Yankees fan. She also loved traveling, shopping, reading music and spending time with family and friends. She was known as Ryebread and Cupcake to many and she was loved by every person she met, her family said in a statement. She had a way of putting a smile on everybody’s face.
She was predeceased by her partner Mike Talbot and by her brothers, Bruce White Sr. and Daniel White Jr.
She is survived by her brother, Tony White Sr. and her sister Pam (Bob) Zaweski, both of Riverhead.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, Aug. 14 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Isidore Church in Riverhead, with interment to follow at St. Isidore Cemetery.
