Riverhead Police arrested a New York City man in connection with a reported assault and robbery on Osborn Avenue last night.

Police said Antoine X. Thomas, 32, was charged with one count of Robbery in the Second Degree, a class C Felony, Assault in the Third Degree, a class A Misdemeanor and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, also a class A Misdemeanor.

According to a press release issued this morning, Riverhead Town Police received a 911 call at 9:15 p.m. Monday, reporting a disturbance at Osborn Plaza, 435 Osborn Avenue in Riverhead. The arriving patrol units were flagged down by a 16-year-old male victim, who reported being robbed of his cell phone and assaulted by man, whom he identified, according to the release. The suspect was still on scene, police said. Officers took the subject into custody and called the Riverhead Police Department Detective Division to assist in the investigation. 

Thomas was arrested, processed and held for arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court.

The victim was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Town Volunteer Ambulance for treatment of non- life threatening injuries, police said.
