The Peconic Bay Power Squadron will offer a “Boat Handling” lecture series to start on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Flanders Community Center in Flanders.

The course is the first in a series that go beyond the practices explained in public boating classes. Students will learn practical marlinespike, navigation rules, hull design, performance and responsibilities of the skipper, boat care, operating a boat under normal and abnormal conditions as well as what to do in emergencies.

The course will be held in six, two-hour sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 5, Oct. 12, Oct. 19, Oct. 26, Nov. 2 and Nov. 9.

The fee for the course is $110 and includes the course manual and student notebook. Students may register online or by calling Vince Mauceri.
