Joan A. Saunders of Mattituck died on Nov. 23, 2022 at her home. She was 95 years old.
She was born on April 29, 1927 in Montclair, New Jersey to Millicent (Oliver) and Richard Hans Fischer. She was the co-founder and retired owner of The Elbow Room, Elbow Too and Rendezvous restaurants.
She was predeceased by her husband Clifford F. Saunders, Jr. She is survived by her children Clifford III (Christina) of Calverton and Jean of Mattituck, grandchildren Clifford IV (Vanessa) of Mastic, Nicole (Jorge) of Calverton, Kyle (Jenna) of Mattituck, Erik, Angel (Robby) of Riverhead, Michaela of Calverton and Samuel of Calverton and six great-grandchildren
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home — 13805 Main Road, Mattituck, NY 11952.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the North Fork Animal Welfare League.
