Riverhead Town Police have arrested two 14-year-old boys in connection with burglaries of two Route 58 businesses.

Police said in a press release last night that officers responded to Crystal Garden restaurant at 747 Old Country Road Friday at 8:16 a.m. on the report of a burglary there. Responding patrol officers discovered that a second burglary had occurred at Maggie Nails, located at 751 Old Country Road.

Riverhead detectives investigating the incidents identified two 14-year-old males “who absconded from Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch” on Middle Road as the suspects in the burglary, according to the press release.

The boys were subsequently arrested and transported to the Riverhead Police Department for processing, police said.

One boy was charged with two counts of Burglary in the Third Degree, a class A misdemeanor. The other boy was charged with one count of the same offense, according to the report.

Both were released on appearance tickets to appear in Suffolk County Family Court at a later date, police said.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call the Riverhead Town Police Department at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
