Richard Warren Grathwohl of Cutchogue died on Jan. 20, 2023 at his home. He was 83 years old.

He was born Nov. 12, 1939 to Alice M. Griffing and Allen E. Grathwohl. He attended Mattituck High School. 

He worked in the printing trade at Baxter Brothers in Mattituck. A few years later, he began working for Suffolk County as a pressman in the Print Shop. He retired as a Print Shop foreman

He was a member of the Cutchogue Fire Department. His hobbies included going to Legends in New Suffolk.

He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn. He was survived by his daughters Debbie (Ben Summerhalder) and Terry, grandchildren Rachel (James Elliott), Benji, Mary Beth Summerhalder, Zackery Edwards and Joshua (Taylor) Edwards and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, Jan. 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck — with services by the Cutchogue Fire Department at 6 p.m. After the visitation, the family will host a “R.W.’s Final Happy Hour” at Legends in New Suffolk at 7:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Cutchogue Cemetery officiated Cutchogue Fire Department Chaplain Tom Roslak.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Cutchogue Fire Department would be appreciated.
