A motorcycle operator was injured when he failed to negotiate a curve and his bike went off the roadway and crashed in a wooded area on Wading River-Manor Road just north of Grumman Boulevard Tuesday afternoon, according to Riverhead Town Police.

The operator of the 2006 Harley Davidson, identified by police as Anthony Gallo of Calverton, was southbound on Wading River-Manor Road, when he drove off the roadway and into the underbrush in a wooded area. He sustained “a serious lower leg injury,” police said in a press release Tuesday evening.

Gallo was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Tuesday night, police said.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
