Dora Emilia Victoria Figueroa, affectionately known as “Dorita,” died suddenly at her home in Calverton on May 20, 2023. She was 51 years old.

Born in Cali, Colombia on June 26, 1971, she was the daughter of Delio Figueroa Cuellar and  Raquel Perez Campos. She emigrated to the United States to pursue her bachelor’s degree and settled in Suffolk County.

Dora lived on the East End for more than 25 years. She married Diego Victoria on April 15, 2006 in Bridgehampton.

A devout Christian, she was a member of the Hamptons Christian Fellowship Church in Noyack, where she sang in the choir.

“Her family was always at the center of her world, and she made sure they knew how much she loved them every day,” family members said. She loved to sing, and was a great singer. She especially loved traditional Colombian folk music. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and was known for her tamales, sandwiches Cubans, sancochos and frijoles, all family recipes passed down from her mother.

Dora held a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Universidad Javeriana in Cali, Colombia and worked as a clerk-typist in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.  Her dedication to her job was evident to everyone who knew her, her family said in a statement. Her coworkers remember her as a kind and compassionate person who was always willing to help others. She had a knack for making difficult situations easier with her smile and positive attitude.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Yeyo.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Samuel David and Sebastian; by her siblings, Ismael Figueroa of Holland, Dalia, Martha, Alfredo, Janeth, Camilo, and Juan Carlos and Victor Figueroa of Barcelona, Spain, and Jamie, Stephany, Eliana and Ida Figueroa of Cali, Colombia. She is also survived by her niece, Maria Del Mar, and Julian, Mateo, Luna and Adrian of Center Moriches.
