Richard H. Morse of Eastport, New York, died on May 19, 2023. He was 77 years old.
Morse was born on July 27, 1945, in San Francisco, California, to Dorothy (née Howell) and Louis Morse. He attended Adelphi University, where he earned his master’s degree in social work. Throughout his career, he served as an administrator for the Department of Social Services and as a professor for Suffolk Community College.
He was predeceased by his partner, Andrea Spilka. Morse is survived by his children, Bianca Morse of Riverhead and Damon Morse of Sound Beach; grandchildren Lucas Morse, Madison Morse, Chelsea Harvey, Courtney Wilder, and Caleb Kreidler; and siblings Willard Morse of Aquebogue, Andrew Morse of Connecticut, and Louise Blackburn of Peconic.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 3, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold, where a eulogy service will be conducted during the visitation.
