Riverhead Police have charged a man in the theft Friday of more than $3,600 worth of clothing from the Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store at Tanger Outlets and are searching for his accomplice, who remains at large.

Police said the pair removed assorted clothing from the store, where it was reported that two women committed the larceny and left the area in a black sedan Friday morning.

Riverhead patrol officers canvassed the area and located the vehicle, a 2021 Honda Civic, according to a police press release issued Saturday. The officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver, Jermell Dixon, 33, of Mastic, as one of the two suspects in the larceny, police said. Proceeds from the theft were located in Dixon’s vehicle, according to police.

Officers also determined that Dixon was operating the vehicle under the influence, police said.

Dixon was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D felony, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, a class D felony, Driving While Intoxicated and False Personation, police said.

Dixon was processed and held for arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court.

The second suspect was not located, police said. She is described as a heavy-set Black female wearing a dark color hat, black ski mask, grey sweat shirt and black shoes.
