Updated- 6:45 p.m. The Riverhead Police Department is reporting problems with in incoming 911 calls this afternoon, police said in a press release.
Anyone experiencing trouble contacting when calling 911 for police, ambulance or fire services should call 631-727-4500, police said.
The press release did not provide any further information about the nature or cause of the issues or when the issues first arose.
Suffolk County Police are also experiencing problems with the emergency phone system, according to a Suffolk County Police Department press release issued after the original publication of this article. said.
The county police department said it is aware of “an intermittent issue with at least one known cell phone carrier that is causing disruptions to 911 call service within 911 call centers in Suffolk County.”
“The department is working to identify and rectify the issue as quickly as possible and there has been no disruption to emergency services being dispatched as a result of the issue,” Suffolk Police said in a press release issued this evening.
