The announcement last week that Riverhead Town would end remote public participation by Zoom in public meetings has met with pushback from community members. One resident even started an online petition asking the town board to reinstate Zoom participation for residents.

Another motorist approached the vehicle, stopped in a roadway for an extended period, to see if the driver needed assistance and found that she “appeared to be semi-conscious, very disoriented with slurred speech.” He was able to reach inside the Toyota, put the vehicle in park, turn off the ignition and remove the keys, police said.
In a complaint filed last month in federal court, a Riverhead woman said she was injured by police officers in June 2019 as they attempted to arrest her son.
Riverhead Town will host a virtual public meeting with Urban Design Associates on Aug. 5, to update the community on the progress of the town square project and solicit additional public input.
