Riverhead opened a COVID-19 vaccination site today for seniors age 65 and older. All 1,000 vaccination appointments have been booked. The town is continuing to preregister seniors for the next shipment of vaccine doses, which the supervisor said she expects will be allocated by the state in the next week or two.
Riverhead Town officials are considering leasing the vacant 106,000-square-foot former Kmart building on Route 58 for use as a municipal complex. The town would consolidate most departments in one location.
Riverhead has arranged for 1,000 first-doses of the two-dose Moderna vaccine to be administered to seniors 65 and older at the town's senior center in Aquebogue. Appointments are required. (No walk-ups.)
The council is composed of 30 members aged 14 to 21 who work on teams to identify and prioritize issues that affect Suffolk County youth.
“It doesn’t do anything for us,” Suffolk Theater owner Bob Castaldi said in an interview this afternoon. "We need to be at 100% to reopen.” The theater has been closed since last spring.
