Sweet Tart, Main Street’s frozen yogurt café, reopens after long absence

The frozen yogurt café was closed in 2019 due to flood damage to their building, then 2020 brought the coronavirus crisis, which shut Sweet Tart down for most of the year. Owners Miyoshi and James Foster are excited to be back.

The Suffolk Theater will reopen on Aug. 27 after a nearly year-and-a-half closure caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The theater will require attendees to be fully vaccinated so it may operate at full capacity without social distancing.

Riverhead unemployment rate dips to lowest since the pandemic began

Riverhead's unemployment rate fell to 5.3% in April, its lowest since the pandemic began. It had climbed to 15.8% last April after the governor ordered a lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Palumbo toasts North Fork vineyards for top awards in NY Wine Classic competition

Senator Anthony Palumbo presented North Fork wineries with resolutions passed by the State Senate honoring them for top awards in the 35th Annual NY Wine Classic. Paumanok Vineyards in Aquebogue was named 'Winery of the Year' for the third time this year. It won five 'best in class' awards as well as two additional gold medals and two silver medals.

Suffolk Theater scrambling to book acts, aiming for September reopening

With the governor's announcement this week that most businesses, including theaters, will be allowed to operate at 100% capacity as of May 19, the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead got busy trying to book acts in a hurry. "Coordinating the dates has been like trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube," theater owner Bob Castaldi said.
