3. Flanders man, 22, seriously injured in motorcycle crash on Flanders Road Thursday night.
Police said William Hynes, 22, of Flanders, was operating a a 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle on Flanders Road when he rear-ended a 2014 Kia that was stopped in traffic west of Long Neck Boulevard at about 7:25 p.m.

4. Southampton Town Police Chief Steven Skrynecki dies at age 69.
The Southampton Town Police Department tonight announced the death of Police Chief Steven Skrynecki.Skrynecki, 69, joined the Southampton Town Police Department six years ago after a 42-year career with the Nassau County Police Department, retiring as chief of the department.

5. Riverhead approves deal for domed ice rink facility at Veterans Memorial Park in Calverton.
The indoor ice rink will be donated to the town by Peconic Hockey Foundation, which will occupy, operated and manage the facility.

6. Loose leaf pickup program to continue in Riverhead indefinitely, after state comptroller’s opinion resolves conflict over funding.
Loose leaf pickup will continue in Riverhead Town indefinitely under an agreement authorized by the Town Board at its meeting Tuesday.

Riverhead IDA’s legal counsel, charged with the due diligence review of Calverton Aviation and Technology’s application for IDA benefits, has represented a Triple Five subsidiary in connection with its American Dream mall in New Jersey.

8. Environmental review for massive Calverton logistics center would be expanded by revised scope incorporating public comments.
Developer North Point will be required to analyze potential cumulative impacts of its proposed massive logistics center on local roads, air quality, water supply and wastewater management, under a final DEIS scoping statement on the Planning Board’s agenda Thursday.

9. Riverhead Police host Coffee with a Cop Day.
Riverhead police officers greeted residents at four locations across town this morning for the annual Coffee with a Cop Day, an event held on this day across the U.S. to encourage informal interaction between police officers and community members.

10. PFC Garfield M. Langhorn Day set aside to remember Riverhead Medal of Honor recipient.
The second Friday in the month of October will forever be remembered as PFC Garfield M. Langhorn Day, in honor of Riverhead Town's only Medal of Honor recipient, who sacrificed his own life to save wounded soldiers in the Vietnamese jungle in January 1969.
