Announcement of Public Hearing
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE in response to the Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) the Suffolk County has notified the Town of Riverhead that it expects to receive special supplemental allocations to be used to prevent, prepare for and respond to the COVID 19 outbreak. These allocations were authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act on March 27, 2020 to respond to the impacts of this public health crisis. The Town of Riverhead, as part of the Suffolk County CDBG Consortium expects to receive approximately $163,000.00 in CARES Act funding. These funds may be used funds allocated under the CARES Act may be used for a range of eligible activities that prevent and respond to the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. The proposed activities must meet the three National Objectives as required by CDBG regulations: benefit low-and-moderate income persons, aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight, and meet an urgent need, and have been previously used for a variety of projects that benefit low and moderate income persons, aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight and/or meet a need having a particular urgency.
Town residents are invited to attend this public hearing on the 7th day of July 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Riverhead Town Hall, 200 Howell Avenue, New York, to express citizen views on community development needs to be met with these funds and/or submit written comments for the record to Riverhead Town Hall, Community Development Department, 200 Howell Avenue, Riverhead, New York 11901 by July 12, 2020.
