Riverhead Police have charged a 60-year-old homeless man with arson in the fire at the CubeSmart storage facility on Mill Road Wednesday morning.

Police said at about 9 p.m. on Sept. 12 the operator of a white SUV in the parking lot of Lighthouse Marina “detonated an incendiary device that shattered the back window of the vehicle.” The operator of the vehicle may have received injuries to his hands and face, police said. 

Police are investigating the incident at Lighthouse Marina Sunday night as an attempted arson.

Riverhead Police are seeking information about a suspicious fire outside a vacant house on West Main Street early this morning that damaged the side of the building.

Riverhead Police patrol units responding to the report of a vehicle fire at about 4:20 a.m. today found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames at the town park on Lewis Street.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Southampton Town Police detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the person or persons who started a brush fire in Flanders last week.

Police said a Wading River homeowner acted quickly to put out a fire started by an "unknown incendiary device" thrown at their house on Sound Road. The incident is being investigated by Riverhead Police and Suffolk County Police arson section detectives.

Lee A. Ragland, 33, was ineligible for bail in justice court because of two prior felony convictions and will remain incarcerated pending grand jury proceedings.

Riverhead Police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in connection with a fire in the Millbrook Gables neighborhood in Riverhead.
