Hazardous weather outlook

There is an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms on Long Island, New York City and the entire New York metro region this afternoon into this evening, with the possibility of damaging winds and large hail, according to the National Weather Service in New York.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m. with heavy rainfall and damaging winds possible.
