NOAA is warning boaters to be on the lookout for humpback whales in the Long Island Sound. Collisions can be dangerous to boaters and whales alike. The giant marine mammal can be 60 feet long and weigh 40 tons. It is federally protected and injuring, interacting with or harassing it is punishable by stiff fines.
