Suffolk County Historical Society issues apology over use of image depicting KKK
An ad for a "monster gathering" of the KKK in Riverhead in August 1926 depicted robed KKK members in the bed of a pickup truck flying large American flags. The image was used by the Suffolk County Historical Society in its "Photo of the Week" email Sunday and posted on its website, drawing fire from the NAACP.

Residents irate over Walmart locking up African-American hair care products in glass case
African-American hair care products were the only hair care products in a locked case in the health and beauty products department at the Riverhead Walmart today. A sign above the case reads “Multicultural Hair Care.” The move has angered Riverhead residents and spurred one customer to action.
