The Riverhead community marked the 21st anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with a candlelight walk and a remembrance service at the 9-11 Memorial Park on Sound Avenue.

In a brief but well-attended service, the Reeves Park community marked the 19th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack tonight.

The Reeves Park community, which lost two residents, both NYC firefighters who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, hosted its 10th annual candlelight walk and remembrance service last night.

“This is what it’s all about: the next generation and hope for the future.” - Bob Kelly, who lost his brother and fellow NYC firefighter, Thomas in the World Trade Center attack, with his one-year-old grandson at a remembrance service at Sept. 11 Memorial Park.

“It’s always an emotional day, always very tough," said Bob Kelly of Reeves Park, retired NYC firefighter whose younger brother, also a city firefighter, was killed in the collapse of the South Tower.
