A Triple Five affiliate closed on the purchase of the 105-acre Dowling College campus in Shirley Sept. 21. A vote on the proposed sale of the 1,643-acre Calverton site remains stalled as town board members continue to wait for a decision by the town ethics board on whether one member has a potential conflict of interest requiring recusal.

Navy seeks to sample private wells in the area around former Grumman site
The Navy is looking to sample private drinking water wells in designated areas near the former Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant(NWIRP)/Grumman facility in Calverton to test for the presence of PFAs — per-fluoroalkyl and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, which have been detected in portions of the groundwater in the area.
