An accident between a bicycle and a car at a Sound Avenue intersection closed a portion of the road Tuesday afternoon.
The car was turning left from Sound Avenue onto Northville Turnpike around 12:10 p.m. when it collided with a bicycle on Sound Avenue, according to police.
The bicyclist was airlifted via helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries, according to police.
A Suffolk County Medevac helicopter landed in a nearby farm field on Northville Turnpike to transport the man to Stony Brook.
The driver of the car did not request transportation to an area hospital for injuries, police said.
Portions of Sound Avenue and Northville Turnpike were closed as emergency responders handled the scene.
