Riverhead High School junior Hilda Espana has been selected to perform with the New York State School Music Association All-State Symphonic Band after earning a perfect score at NYSSMA evaluations last school year.

Espana received a score of 100 on her All-State trumpet solo, Riverhead High School band teacher Joseph Randazzo said.

“As a member of the NYSSMA All-State Symphonic Band, she will be conducted by Dr. Lindsay Bronnenkant from the University of Massachusetts Amherst,” Randazzo said.

Espana will attend the NYSSMA Winter Conference Dec. 3-6 in Rochester, where she will rehearse with other student musicians selected from across New York State. The All-State Symphonic Band will perform Dec. 6 at the Eastman Theatre.
